JAVA OVERLAND TOUR – BOUTIQUE Duration: 8D-7N Blackout Dates: 3 – 7 July 2016 (Idul Fitri) DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO JAKARTA - BOGOR - BANDUNG Upon arrival at Jakarta airport, our guide will welcome and drive you directly to the cool mountain region of Bogor for a visit to the famous Bogor Botanical Garden. Moving on through beautiful tea plantations and hilly scenery, you will reach the Puncak pass for lunch. Afterwards, drive to Bandung and visit the interesting music school of Pak Udjo, where you can hear a short angklung performance (traditional bamboo instrument) played by kids. Check-in in at your hotel in Bandung. DAY 2: FULL DAY TRIP TO TANGKUBAN PRAHU After breakfast full day excursion to Tangkuban Prahu volcano, from where you can observe the whole Bandung region. Visit to the caldera of Tangkuban Prahu with a unique view inside the crater and the scenery around. On the way back stop at the hot spring in Ciater, where you can spoil your body in warm sulphurous water. Return to your hotel. (breakfast and lunch included) DAY 3: BANDUNG - BY TRAIN TO KUTOARJO - WONOSOBO After breakfast check-out from your hotel and transfer to the train station. You will board the train Argowilis (executive class) from Bandung to Kutoarjo. After arrival in Kutoarjo proceed by car / bus to Wonosobo, on the slopes of Dieng Plateau. Overnight in Wonosobo. (breakfast and lunch box included) DAY 4: WONOSOBO - DIENG PLATEAU - BOROBUDUR TEMPLE - CANDI MENDUT - CANDI PAWON - YOGYAKARTA After breakfast depart from Wonosobo to Dieng Plateau. During the drive through a serpentine road you can observe the always changing nature and see beautiful paddy fields. The Dieng Plateau lies in a mountain region in approx. 2.100 m altitude and is fabled for its mystic atmosphere. These mountains belong to some of the most active volcanic places in Indonesia. Temples at the Dieng Plateau have been built in the 7th century by the Sanjaya Dynasty in a giant swampy caldera, between steep rocks, cold mineral lakes and fuming volcanoes. “Dieng” is often translated as “the residence of heaven”. It is presumed, that Dieng Plateau was a prospering temple centre in the mountains, populated by Hindu priests and hermits. After a longer drive downhill you will reach Borobudur Temple, the largest Buddhist sainthood in the world! During the years 775 until 856 there were 30.000 stone carvers and 15.000 porters participating on its construction, which mightiness amazes all visitors until today. On the way to Yogyakarta short stop at Candi Mendut and Candi Pawon and then check-in at your hotel in Yogyakarta. (breakfast and lunch included) DAY 5: YOGYAKARTA / CITY TOUR - PRAMBANAN TEMPLE After breakfast start your city tour. With 1 million citizens Yogyakarta is not only the most important city in Central Java, but also well known for its art production, high schools, universities and for keeping and cultivating Javanese traditions on the entire island of Java. Today you will visit the sultan’s palace Keraton, the ruins of the water palace Taman Sari, the Old City, bird market Pasar Ngasem and some batik workshops and silver manufactories as well. Yogyakarta is very well known for its batik techniques which have become famous in South-East Asia. Next visit to Prambanan Temple. This huge temple complex is dedicated to Hindu gods Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu. The first relief begins on the most eastern entry and shows the epos of Ramayana. Afterwards return to your hotel and evening for free for own activities. We recommend to take a walk in the famous Malioboro Street or to visit a traditional performance of a Ramayana Ballet. (breakfast and lunch included) DAY 6: YOGYAKARTA - BROMO VOLCANO After an early breakfast check-out from your hotel and transfer to the train station. Train ride (Argowilis executive train) from Yogyakarta to Jombang (approx. 3 ½ hours). Along the railway you can observe an always changing nature as fruitful volcanic fields. Around 1pm arrival at Surabaya, the capital of East Java. Here you will proceed by car to the mountain region of Bromo Volcano (approx. 3 hours). Check-in at your hotel at around 4pm. (breakfast and lunch included) DAY 7: BROMO VOLCANO - IJEN PLATEAU Today an extraordinary nature experience is waiting for you! An amazing sunrise above the Bromo volcano - is probably the most famous nature spectacle in Indonesia. Early in the morning, at approx. 4 am you will start from your hotel to Penanjakan taking a four-wheel drive jeep to the caldera of Tengger crater in order to wait there for the colorful sunrise and breathtaking photos to shoot. (If weather permits) Then drive downhill into the huge caldera Bromo crater. The last few meters up you will take a pony to the edge of the crater which enables you to watch the fuming mouth of Bromo volcano. Then return to your hotel for taking breakfast and check-out. In the forenoon continue to Ijen Plateau. During the journey short visit to coffee-, cocoa- and clove plantations and check-in at you hotel. (breakfast, lunch and dinner included) DAY 8: IJEN PLATEAU - KETAPANG - TRANSFER TO BALI - TRANSFER TO HOTEL Early in the morning a four-wheel drive jeep will stand-by at your hotel to drive with you through coffee, cocoa and clove plantations around the village of Licin. During the trip you will experience one of the last rainforests East Java’s with plenty of wild animals. Then start of an approx. 90 minutes trek uphill to the crater of Ijen. In the rainforest you will have lots of chances to take pictures of beautiful tropical nature. After reaching the caldera in 2.883 meters altitude you will see the photogenic milky blue lake in the crater surrounded by yellow, sulphurous rocks. Along the way you will surely meet old callous sulphur carriers who are on their daily trips up and down the hill, carrying up to 80 kg of this yellow stone. Then transfer to the harbour Ketapang and crossing to Bali. Drive along the West coast to your hotel in Bali. (breakfast and lunch included)
